Enjoy!!Today's post is a featured post by a reader, who wanted to stay annonymous, not only did I enjoy reading, I was also super blessed. I decided to spice things up by interjecting with my thoughts at intervals.
Greetings!!
I'm super excited to be writing on this blog, been waiting for an opportunity like this for a while now. But before we get to my story, I'd like to get a few things straight.
One, I am not a writer, I do not come to you with eloquence of speech and ambiguous words.

Two, let the Holy Spirit be your guide. I'm only human and sometimes we make mistakes and read or greed into his creed. But I trust that my thoughts are Holy Ghost inspired to bless you all.
Three, I am not a pastor or preacher, don't expect some revelation knowledge that'll give you goosebumps.
gbemieO says :Why the long disclaimer lol

Okay, let's get into my story. I grew up in a family where I was showered with love, not born with a silver spoon but it might as well have been one.

Love wasn't just a word, it was an action, and a lifestyle. But in the midst of all this, my sister and I had the worst relationship. My God! We fought at any opportunity, always at each other's throats. But we claimed to love each other nonetheless.

Fast forward 20 years down the line, we had found God, tongue speaking, evangelical and radical believers, but we still lacked love. I remember the last argument we had, my mother even got involved. Begging us and telling us that if she left the world today all we had was each other and our brother.

That didn't change anything. In all of this I had been reading books about love and was expecting Christ to magically change me and make me a "lover" what a joker I was. I sat in a bible class sometime ago and the pastor made a statement in passing "fruits are not given, they are grown"
gbemieO says: hmmmn see rhema

That was when I got it. Eureka! If I may say and I will say. Love is a fruit of the spirit Gal 5:22-23. Sometimes we expect the love of God which is shed abroad in our hearts to perform some kind of hypnosis because we have been born again. But love was made to be intentional, just like the conscious effort we make to eat. You may ask what led me to this reality. I'll tell you- now I came back from camp about a month ago, and my relationship with my sister had changed. We call, text, tell each other the ILY and IMY like lovers.
gbemieO says: awwwwn so toushing and romantic

I waited for the first week for us to fight, the second week, third! Ah! We had little arguments though, but never got passed the hour it began.
gbemieo says: ahahhhn why so pessimistic......I guess as Nigerians we have been trained not to expect good things to last forever....I blame it on NEPA or whatever they are called this days

After the third week I finally brought my sisters attention to it. She said she had noticed it too- it was intentional. Now, here's the best part, this revelation has totally transformed my relationship with not just my sister but with everyone. When Paul wrote an entire chapter on love, it's not for lack of things to say. But when you let love be your guide it totally changes your perspective of life. Love is intentional.

I'm very positive that our world today needs love more than anything, without love we're all just wasting time. Let's show some love today, to that brother who is gay, to that sister who has decided to walk away from God, to that murderer who is constantly chastised.

A simple act of love goes a long way. I'll end on this note, But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily, hope unswervingly, live extravagantly. And the best of this three is love. 1 Cor 13:13(MSG).

gbemieo finally says: Wooooww this post blessed me tremendously, especially because I can relate to it, I am currently in a season of intentionally loving, and it is changing a lot of things, let's just say it's a lot peaceful, pretty cool to deny the flesh and choose to live more like Jesus.

This post can be applied to other fruits of the spirit, once you are aware that you have the Holyspirit, you have a duty to walk in the reality of that fact, be intentional about walking in this light, we are already graced to do so anyways, we just have to realise it, this realisation transforms into actions, till the fruit of the spirit become a lifestyle.
No matter where the British royal family find themselves, they would always act like royalty. because the fact that they are royalty has been engraved in their minds.

Leave me a comment if you learnt a thing or two from this post, also do you guys feel S.I UNIT should write more and feature her writings on the blog....let me know what you think, in the comment section.
