But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit- JUDE 20

After I became baptized in the holy spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, I decided that I was going to see it as my special prayer language. The only way to become fluent in a language is by continually speaking the language, so every opportunity I got I was praying in tongues, in the bathroom, on my way to class, when I was just on my bed chilling, and it’s such a convenient thing, you don’t have to shout at the top of your lungs or draw attention to your self, its just something between you and God. Praying in tongues became like a hobby to me, I could just key into the throne of grace in the twinkle of an eye. It was literally a language to me, the same way anyone can speak, sing in English etc, you can do any of that and even more in tongues, because it’s a language.

One thing I realized was that it helped my prayer life, the Bible tells us to pray without ceasing, I for instance did try to pray without ceasing, in English, but the truth is I always ran out of things to pray about, after praying for, myself, exams, provision, my parents, my sisters, even if I decided to mention all my family members one after the other, I always got tired or bored, because I was always repeating myself vainly.

The first time I prayed for one hour without stopping, was in tongues, I couldn’t believe I had just prayed for an hour non stop, this was something that was a struggle for me, because as I said earlier, I always ran out of things to pray about. Praying in tongues, helps your prayer life, gives you a prayer life without walls or restrictions, you don’t have to think o what do I have to pray about, or what do I need again o, or what is it my parents need, the spirit helps us to pray in our weaknesses, our weakness or infirmity here being the flesh that limits us. In praying in tongues, you could be praying for your parents, even if you do not know, what your parents need at the time of prayer, the holy spirit who knows what they need, helps you pray according to the will of God for them.

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.- ROMANS 8

There is also no praying amiss when we pray in tongues, the holy spirit guides us to pray the perfect will of God concerning whatever issue it is, sometimes we pray concerning things, and we do not get the answer we want, because whatever we are praying about is not God’s will for our lives, but when we pray in tongues we are praying under the guidance, of the holy spirit so answers are sure.

In the introductory part of this series of posts I mentioned that someone left a comment suggesting that I write on this subject, even though I said I was going to pray about it, I did not because it slipped my mind, but the truth is that comment did not slip the mind of God, the flesh part of me was wondering what to write, how to write it and all that. The day I got the inspiration as to hw this posts were going to be like I was praying in tongues, truth is I absolutely had no idea what I was praying about, I was just enjoying time with God praying in tongues, now I realize that I was obviously praying about the blog, the holy spirit who knew that I needed to pray concerning guidance about the posts, even though I had forgotten guided me In praying that day, and here we are.

When we pray in our understanding we pray concerning the things that are in the present, or the things we can currently see, or the things that are currently bothering us, but when we pray in the spirit, we can even pray two, three years into our future, avert impending dangers, pray concerning issues we never knew were coming. And of course we can truly pray without ceasing, if you have been experiencing sluggishness in your prayer life, maybe like me you used to run out of things to pray about, or get bored, pray more in tongues, and watch your prayer life change for the better.

A lot of people complain that when they pray they do not feel the presence of God. While it’s important to state that as Christians it’s important to be more grounded in faith, than in feelings, I also feel as a child of God, it’s important to feel the presence of God.

As I type this I smile, because I know the presence of God, is such a blissful place to be in, it’s a place of true love, when bae hugs you, you know how you feel, now imagine God wrapping his everlasting arms around you and hugging you, it’s actually not describable in words.

Praying in tongues, to me is one of the quickest ways to feel God’s presence, it’s usually one of those moments when I’m just worshiping or praising him.

Guys I speak from personal experience, when I say there is nothing like the presence of God, it’s such a humbling experience, that makes you just want to prostrate and bare it all before him, before him and at the same time you are excited and laughing and feeling on top of the world. I know this makes no sense but as I said earlier, thee are no words to describe it.

I am going to share one of my most treasured memories of when I felt the presence of God, I was not in church, or any spiritual gathering, it was in the early days of starting up this blog, I was just at home on my bed chilling, I was about to pen down a post and I just decided let me just pray small before I do so, and I began to pray in the spirit this small prayer passed minutes and began to go into hours, and suddenly I was weak, not the kind of sickness weak, but just weak because right there in my room, an ALMIGHTY power beyond me was present, as I said the presence of God humbles you, it makes you realize that you are nothing and God is everything, I was just lying on my bed in awe, of how strong the presence of God is, I picked up my pen to start writing, and I couldn’t write, as I always tell a friend of mine, “babes I was weak in the presence of God”, I dropped the pen, and picked it up again still struggling to write, my fingers were feeble I couldn’t construct a word, not to talk of a sentence, amidst laughter I just respected myself and jejely dropped the pen, and surrendered myself to the almightyness of God and worshipped him in silence.

That day is so memorable, because even in my humbled state, I felt peace, joy, love and every other good thing that comes with being a child of God all at the same time, it was a state of no wahala, God has got my back, and it was too real for me to ever doubt that God is as real as you and I.

No I wasn’t having a stroke, or any medical issue, for the science minded people that are reading this.

I am going to end this post here, still hoping to hear, from you all, do you speak in tongues?, how has it helped you? do you even believe in it?
Have a lovely week ahead.
