Sometime last year, someone sent me the link to a christian dating site, the first thing I thought was o wow, must be nice since it's a christian website.

Out of curiosity I clicked the link, after all anything can happen and as we like to say you never can tell where someone can find love. Just as I was about to fill the first field for registration register, I heard the Holyspirit ask me clearly 'why are you doing this/' Guys I was startled, the first thing I said was 'well just for fun, I am a curious person and I love to explore so what's the big deal'.
It was like Baba God wasn't having my answer o.

That was when the conversation started, he showed me how I didn't think my action through, then he walked me down the 'aisle' of what a dating app entails, the rigours of having to take a 'perfect' picture just so someone can pick me, the fact that I may always have to be checking my phone to see if someone had picked me, then the countless dates I may have to go on, just to pick maybe the one.

He questioned my motives again, and I was honest, well I sorta kinda was hoping I could meet the one on there, the tag line of the app was something about being single and ready to mingle
What exactly is mingling? am I available to just mingle? or am I seeking out God's perfect will for my life, if it was just for mingling I would have been in the wrong place, because most people on there will just be there for the purpose of mingling, while in my heart I am seeking out someone as a life partner. this is obviously fitting a square peg into a round hole, and a very delicious recipe for heartbreak and disaster.

The Holyspirit made me see that while the idea of a dating app, may not be bad, it was not for me- Oluwagbeminiyi, my reason for going there was not his plan for me, but mine, and we all know how that always ends.

You know this spoke a lot to me, so many of us operate in the anointing of 'dem say, dem say' it's what others do, that we follow, if others say it's good then it is good for us, we do not care to find out what God wants for us, we aren't patient to listen to him when he cautions.

One thing I have realised about God is that when he says no to a thing it is ALWAYS for our good, ALWAYS, he never says no just for fun, or just because he wants to be the boss of us, every NO from God is drenched in his love and kindness for us.

The last thing the Holyspirit told me was I wasn't operating from a place of rest, even as I type this I want to scream and run round my room. AH rest is so important in this journey of faith, operating from a place of rest is operating from a place of fellowship and communion, operating from a place of rest is absolute and total surrender, it is literally saying God I choose your presence and I choose to focus my energy on you and not worry, las las it is you saying Jesus take the wheel. my motive for wanting to go on that site was coming from a place that is the opposite of rest, let me just say it with my full mouth that I was just trying to help God while he was saying my child don't move ahead of me, I am inviting you to REST! how loving of God.

Let me conclude by saying personally, I have absolutely nothing against dating sites, and I believe that it may work for some people, what I know for sure is that it isn't for me, I know this because God told me

Do you know his plans for you?

Are you patient enough to listen?

Or is it a matter of 'dem say dem say'

  1. 2 major lessons from this.

1.!Learn how to operate from a place of REST (comprising of Intimacy and fellowship/communion with Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit)
    2. Learn to always surrender all, even in the little things which are not so little

  2. Timely message.God bless Oluwagbeminiyi
